Hearing Screenings:

Diagnostic hearing evaluations can help patients establish a baseline for their current hearing levels and, at the least, help shape a strategy to prevent further loss. Early hearing evaluations can be invaluable in understanding how to effectively protect and preserve your ability to hear.

We also provide speech-in-noise testing to determine how you hear with ambient noise. One of the first signs of hearing loss is the inability to accurately understand conversations in noisy environments. Speech-in-noise testing can provide valuable insight into exactly how this noise can affect your ability to hear. Based on the results, Dr. Guthrie can make specific recommendations to help you remain a part of the conversation.

Cerumen (Wax) Removal:

Throughout your life, earwax can build up in your ears. Using Q-Tips to try to clean your ears can make the problem worse. While you can remove some wax with cotton swabs, you also push wax farther into your ear canal. Eventually, it becomes impacted and can harm your hearing.

When you come to 4 Bridges Audiology, Dr. Guthrie will perform a routine examination of your ears. If a significant wax buildup is discovered, she can safely and effectively remove it. This can instantly improve your hearing and your quality of life.

Not hearing as well as you used to can be frustrating and frightening. It can be easy to assume the worst. The good news is that sometimes there is a relatively simple solution for your issue. Cerumen buildup seems trivial, but it can have significant repercussions. As soon as you start to notice a decrease in your ability to perceive sound, call us. Dr. Guthrie is ready and waiting to help you determine the cause of your problem. If cerumen is the cause, you may be able to restore your hearing in one visit!
